The reason I like him is that… he was a very insecure guy- socially misfit, below average in a lot of traits. And he thought of himself unworthy to go to heaven. When I saw his depiction on Raphael’s School of Athens, I found him very mundane… regular… which fits in with the rest of the people somewhat, but- he is Michelangelo! How can he be… that? He created the Pieta, he painted the Sistine ceiling, he- he created David. And after all that he was just an insecure guy behind the idealistic, grand and strong forms of his sculptures and paintings? He makes me want to try a little bit harder- to not be okay with messy sketches.
